How Many Pages and Line Items can Xtracta Process?

When processing documents with a large number of pages or a large number of line items, it’s quite common for them to appear to remain in a processing status. Once the document is ready for processing by reaching a queue, there can be a delay opening it in the Engine Learning Screen. This issue usually arises due to a combination of two main factors:

  • The number of Line Items
  • The number of Pages

Line Items

Although the number of pages contributes to the load, Line Items are often the root cause for documents not loading properly. Xtracta does not have a fixed limit for the number of line items that can be displayed. Another consideration is that each line item can be made up of several fields.

For example, if a workflow has 6 fields per line item:

Line-Items

Each line item will result in 6 extracted values stored in the database. So, a document with 10 line items will result in 60 total data points.

Additionally:

  • Each field may have its own validation and transformation rules
  • These rules can further increase the loading time

Due to this complexity, it's not possible to specify an exact upper limit for the number of line items a document can safely include.

Number of Pages

There’s no specific limit on the number of pages either. However:

  • The more pages a document has, the longer it will take to display
  • Larger documents can cause delays when opened in the Classic Engine Learning Screen
  • We recommend using the New ELS when possible; It loads the data more efficiently
  • Keeping many large documents on the dashboard can make it inaccessible to users

Relevant Information

Opening large documents, especially with many line items, using the Classic ELS may:

  • Take significant time
  • Cause the page to be unable to load in a reasonable amount of time

The New Engine Learning Screen is optimized for better performance with large and complex documents.

✅ It is strongly recommended to use the New ELS for better performance and stability.
